It’s been a while since we said hello and checked-in with you, our Kendal friends, so we wanted to say, “That we hope you are all doing well" and let you know where we currently stand with the 2020 event.

Despite the difficult circumstances we and the whole world find ourselves in, we want to reassure you, we are continuing to work behind the scenes to ensure that come November we will be in the position to offer you four glorious days celebrating adventures big and small and share our joint love for mountains and the wonderful outdoors.

By joining us each year in Kendal you help to support our local community, local businesses, outdoor partners, valiant adventurers, skilled athletes and the many talented creatives – filmmakers, authors and artists we work alongside. We are very aware, if we cancel the Festival the impact will be felt far and wide.

We are optimists and as such we are eager to keep the Festival as a live event within our town to maintain support for the Kendal community we love so dearly. We will continue to monitor the situation and should it not be entirely safe to run our Festival in the way we normally do, we will be as resourceful, flexible and as sensitive as possible to ensure we can still deliver a brilliant 'Kendal’ experience for you. As a Festival team we are working with an open minded and creative approach; there are several options we are exploring at the moment and our event could be a fascinating hybrid of digital and live content.

We believe the best therapy for physical and mental health is the great outdoors and with this in mind we are liaising with the OIA and other relevant organisations to forge new channels of engagement.  We will of course keep in touch with you over the coming weeks and months as we work together to navigate these difficult times.

Kendal Mountain Festival Tour

Over the past few years, to ensure our Festival is a sustainable business and to share the messages we love to a wider audience, we have worked hard to grow our Festival to include a UK Tour. Supported by our presenting partner Fjällräven, our tour this year consists of 40 dates and we had delivered several of these in early spring before unfortunately having to postpone the remaining due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Currently these are re-scheduled from August 2020 through to January 2021 and we will keep reviewing the situation in line with government guidance. As always, we thank you for your patience, loyalty and ongoing support.
