‘Kendal' began with a group with a community of people who pushed against the physical and imaginative boundaries of their time in their chosen playground; the mountains. Nearly 40 years later we embrace those who uphold that spirit of adventure; who think outside the box, can open their minds and bodies to the upmost of what's possible, and use sport, adventure and exploration to break down boundaries, find common ground and protect the lands they value.

We are delighted to screen two different film sessions this year showcasing such ‘Outside Thinkers’, and we hope they will inspire our audience to look to the future with energy and hope.

Outside Thinkers 1 is a collection, that brings together stories of young people using their bodies and their environment to express their freedom, reconnect to their roots and most of all, play.

While Outside Thinkers 2 showcases the innovative ways people across the world are caring for their lands, and the challenges they attempt to overcome in their stewardship of Cumbrian fields, Amazon jungle, Cambodian mangrove forests, Mississippi ducks and the most beautiful species of butterflies.
