  • When is Kendal Mountain Festival?

    Kendal Mountain Festival takes place in November each year. In 2019 the Festival will take place from 14th - 17th November.

    Where is the Festival?

    The Festival takes place in Kendal, on the edge of the English Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    We use a number of venues around the town to host events. The hub of the Festival is the Brewery Arts Centre, where you will find our Basecamp tented village, cinema screens and our box office.

    However it doesn’t only happen at the Brewery; the Festival extends throughout Kendal's cobbled lanes and yards. Venues include Kendal Town Hall, the Shakespeare Centre, Kendal Library, the Abbot Hall Social Club, and our largest venue - the 900-seat Leisure Centre.

    How do I get to Kendal?

    What should I bring?

    November in Cumbria – it will be cold and it's likely to be wet. Whilst we are predominantly an indoor event, it will be necessary to walk between venues so please dress appropriately. Warm layers are encouraged but you can leave the ice axe, crampons and compass at home. 

    To limit the amount of single use cups used over the Festival weekend, we kindly ask you bring a reusable drinks container along. There are lots of taps on site where you can fill your bottles and cups.

    Are dogs allowed at the Festival?

    We're sorry to say dogs are not allowed in any of the main Festival venues or in the Festival tents at the Brewery Arts Centre.  Guide dogs, of course, are allowed.

  • How is the Festival ticketed?

    No ticket is required for entrance to the Festival site. You only buy tickets for the events you want to see.

    How do I buy tickets?

    Our Literature tickets are now live and can be purchased online.
    Our full programme goes on sale in September and many events sell-out very quickly.
    We have worked with the Brewery to offer E-Tickets for 2019, these can be presented on your phone and don't need to be printed. We request you use these, wherever possible, to reduce the amount of paper used.
