Palm & Pyranha Paddlesports Session
Our Paddlesports Session presenters both have impressive accolades themselves. Cal Major in Stand Up Paddleboarding and activism, and Paul Robertson in Surf Kayaking and Freestyle competition.
We're delighted to welcome Ray Goodwin, Bren Orton and Adrian Mattern and to the stage.
About Ray Goodwin MBE
Ray Goodwin will be talking about his varied history in the outdoors; ‘back in the day’ he was an active climber and mountaineer, has paddled some serious whitewater, and done some impressive sea kayaking expeditions – he’ll talk about that journey and present images/clips from those phases of life, into becoming the man who literally wrote the book on canoeing, and now having his own paddling family and introducing his young daughter to canoeing and her journey so far.
Bren Orton and Adrian Mattern join us with a special talk 'Through Thick and Thin'.Tales from two friends that spend their time travelling the globe in search of the biggest whitewater in the world, while trying to make a living out of doing what they love. The good, the bad, the ugly and everything else that goes along with kayaking off 100ft waterfalls, travelling to places like Pakistan and being crammed into public transport for days on end.
About Adrian Mattern
Adrian is the latest in a long line of progressive German paddlers. A few short years ago, Adrian left school to pursue kayaking full-time, and since then has squeezed in a lot of travel, competitions and waterfall descents. Despite being cool, calm and collected almost all the time, Adrian is no slouch on the race course and has even been known to show up randomly, moments before the start of events, and win. Together with Bren Orton he is running the “Senders” video series which reach over 200.000 people each month processing the latest happenings in what is going down in the world of these extreme sport athletes
About Bren Orton
Bren is known for huge freestyle moves, as well as his trademark creativity. Bren, 23 and from Warrington, holds the British record for the highest fall – 128ft down the Big Banana Falls in Mexico.
Palm and Pyranaha would like to invite people to join them and the session speakers for a Paddle Pickup along the River Kent in advance of the session. Full details.
Presented by Palm Equipment
The year was 1979. The location: the Somerset coast. Inside a small shed with a leaky tin roof stood a figure, working hard and covered in a fine layer of glass fibre dust. This was Andy Knight, a man who wanted some better gear to take paddling, and had decided to make it himself. The sign on the door read ‘Palm Glass Fibre Mouldings Ltd’.Discover Palm Equipment
