FILM COLLECTION OUTSIDE THINKERS 2

Watch 90 minutes of brand new adventure films from our 2019 International Film Competition presented by Pertex.

‘Kendal' began with a group with a community of people who pushed against the physical and imaginative boundaries of their time in their chosen playground; the mountains. Nearly 40 years later we embrace those who uphold that spirit of adventure; who think outside the box, can open their minds and bodies to the upmost of what's possible, and use sport, adventure and exploration to break down boundaries, find common ground and protect the lands they value.

These two sessions showcase such ‘Outside Thinkers’, and we hope they will inspire our audience to look to the future with energy and hope.

We have two strands;

Outside Thinkers 1 brings together stories of young people using their bodies and their environment to express their freedom, reconnect to their roots and most of all, play.

Outside Thinkers 2 showcases the innovative ways people across the world are caring for their lands, and the challenges they attempt to overcome in their stewardship of Cumbrian fields, Amazon jungle, Cambodian mangrove forests, Mississippi ducks and the most beautiful species of butterflies.

Film Tickets

For 2019, due to popular demand, we’ve swapped our day film passes to individual film session tickets. This gives you full flexibility of our programme, so you can choose the exact sessions you’d like to see. More info on this decision here.

Accessibility

We're working hard to make our Festival fully accessible, and there are dedicated spaces reserved for wheelchair users in our venues with the exception of the Fleece Inn. Unfortunately within the Fleece Inn the cinema space is situated on an upper floor with no lift access. To ensure nobody misses out on the action, all film screenings held at the Fleece Inn, will also be held at other venues. For more information head to Festival Accessibility.

THANKS TO PERTEX

OUR FILM PROGRAMME PRESENTING PARTNER

If you're wearing a lightweight, high-performance windproof or waterproof mountain garment, there's a good chance it'll be constructed using Pertex fabrics. Founded in 1979 near Burnley, the company has steadily grown from humble beginnings into an iconic fabric technology brand, creating technical fabrics mainly used in garments and sleeping bags.  Being so close to its outdoor users, Pertex has increasingly chosen to communicate stories through the medium of film. Its six-part series Elemental Journeys explores stories from people whose lives are defined by wild spaces and mountain adventures. At Kendal, we're proud that Pertex is the presenting sponsor of our International Film Competition.
